Little Drawer Organizers

It's Show and Tell Time!
This is not a paid advertisement - it's just a review of one of my favorite things.
This is one of those things that I'm grateful for, because it makes life a bit easier in simple ways.

One last thing in my scrapbooking arsenal (for this month anyway) that I include as one of my favorite things -
It's not expensive ..., It's nothing very unique ..., It comes in different sizes and colors ..., It's found most anywhere ...,

Little Organizing Drawers!

Actually, I have a few of these in my home ...,

one in the garage with bolts and screws and nails and etc.,
one in in the mudroom tool closet with smaller screws, nails, hooks, etc.,
Sorry the photo is untouched, but those drawers are even worse - kinda very dusty, but I didn't think it was worth dumping and dusting each drawer for the photo or for any reason really!

and, one in the laundry room with craft supplies and little extras that I don't know what to do with - but can't throw them away ..., yet!

I just love little drawers and containers with see thru fronts - they allow me to see what I have and easily find what I'm looking for.

I still love the little drawers that don't have clear fronts, like these shown earlier, but I can't see what is inside them.

They, for me, seem to be more decor than anything else.  Maybe someday I'll hang some tiny tags on the tiny knobs to show me what is inside each of the tiny drawers.
Actually, the drawers are empty for the moment, well, except for the top left - that drawer holds a few cards that came with the Willow Tree figurines I have.
When I was redoing them I threw away or gave away most of the contents within the few drawers I had stuff in.  Hey, I hadn't seen them for months and didn't seem to miss them, nor could I figure out what I'd want that stuff for later.  That only works on occasion you know - I mean throwing stuff away. It made me happy! :)

What Makes You Smile?

We've all heard that
a smile is contagious!
Well, here is a smile I saw
that made me smile.
When I awoke in the morning and looked at the jars we had completed the previous evening I found the top of this jar dried as happy as can be.
CAN YOU SEE IT?
Two big brown eyes, a tiny off-centered nose, and a great big smile.
There it was ... staring me in the face ... wishing me a great and a
HAPPY DAY!
I love canning!
I love to see the finished product in my pantry! It does make me smile!

We all love to eat the finished product throughout the year!
Home preserved fruit is so much better than store bought!
For our family it is well worth the effort!
Do you love to can?  Does it make you smile?
Here is wishing you
a great and a
HAPPY DAY!

Baby Quilt

Look what we created!
We are not exactly what you'd call seamstresses...,
and if you looked closely at the stitches you'd probably let out a shriek similar to what you would on Halloween night...,  that was the trickiest part...,
but, it did turn out somewhat like I'd hoped.  It was so fun to pick out the fabric in the store and come home and create the look I was hoping for...,
I did have help with this from a couple of my girls.
We learned a few things as we went along..., so the next time it shouldn't be as tricky for us.

We would have loved some rosettes here and there, but the baby would not appreciate them, so we left them off.

Stop To Think!

Did you ever stop to think,

Jeweled Cake Stands

This post got started because I saw these crystal / jeweled tiers or dessert stands / pedestals from Cocoa & Fig

Aren't they lovely? I know nothing about them, and can't seem to find them anywhere else.   I wondered if they were candle holders but I can't find them that way either. Oh Bother!

Here are some other things I did find :

Ribbon Dispensers

It's Show and Tell Time!
This is not a paid advertisement - it's just a review of one of my favorite things.
This is one of those things that I'm grateful for, because it makes life a bit easier in simple ways.

Keeping with my scrapbooking theme from the last couple Show and Tell posts of a few of my favorite things, I'm sharing these Ribbon Dispensers.

I like how they keep the ribbon clean (away from the dust) and yet have them available at my finger tips when I need them. I can just cut off a few inches as needed.
They have inside section dividers that you remove if your roll is to wide - notice the wide blue and brown ribbon in the upper photo - I think I had to take out two sections for that one.  These are my extra dividers that I keep around for later.

I found mine at Wal-Mart several years ago.  I think I paid seven - almost eight dollars, but they aren't even available now.
However, I did search Amazon for ribbon dispensers and found them.
Craft Mates Ezy Stack Ribbon Rack Organizer from Amazon

It looked like Amazon would be the place to look if you are shopping for ribbon organizers. I saw several options.   If you shop local stores it might be a little trickier to find ribbon dispensers, but not to worry - I also use the good ol clear plastic boxes for ribbon too.

I love clear storage containers so I can see what's inside without having to open it first.

A Shirt Becomes a Pillowcase

This

becomes this

My daughter made this pillowcase from her grandfather's flannel shirt.
He passed away July 2011 and her grandmother passed away January 2012.
This was a shirt that one of our boys was given from his grandpa. He wore it a couple times, just because it was a great memory, but it wasn't the right fit or look for him, so he stuck it on a pillow with sleeves and all.  The vision began - and it turned out quite fun and special.
Now I wish we would have kept more clothing to do a similar thing.

Bottles / Jars / Cans

Saving bottles and jars has been a thing I do for many years now, and it's getting worse - probably because I have more ideas on how to use them now.
Here is a great post from Yellow Brick Home on how to clean wax out of a jar.

Here is a great look using a saved bottle and a saved can -

Just a Funny Poem

“Draw a crazy picture,
Write a nutty poem,
Sing a mumble-gumble song,
Whistle through your comb.
Do a loony-goony dance
'Cross the kitchen floor,
Put something silly in the world
That ain't been there before.”

Colorfully Covered Tiny Drawers

This from Living Beautifully is pretty cute lookin' -  These cheery colors and designs would brighten up any room.  What a way to repurpose!

This lovely look inspired me...

Do you remember this photo from an earlier post?

Do you see the little drawers at the right - the shelf unit and the chest unit below it?
I like the colors, but they were a bit dark and I was tired of that combination ..., so ...,

That look became this look -

Can you see the difference?  They are a bit more cheery now ...,

I left the shelf sections the same painted cream color and glued paper on the front of each drawer.  And, I only used scrap pieces - awesome huh?!?!?!
The hardest part was getting those little knobs off.
Sanding the drawers to give them an antique look was easier than taking those off.

I put paper on the top of the chest of drawers, but did not on the top of the shelf unit.  I didn't want to take it off the wall and since we can't see the top of it I didn't think it needed covered.

 I love their new colors!
I think there is one more thing I need to do before I can call it done - I left some of the knobs their original dark color, but painted all the blue - that green peg on the shelf should be blue too.
I think the others can stay the color they are.
It doesn't look so bad in person, but in the photo above I really notice it and I don't like it so much.

Now maybe I'm done with my stuff room?????
Well ... until something else inspires me!!!!!

Family and the Gospel of Christ

"One hundred years ago, President Joseph F. Smith connected happiness directly to the family and admonished us to focus our efforts there. He said: “There can be no genuine happiness separate and apart from the home. … There is no happiness without service, and there is no service greater than that which converts the home into a divine institution, and which promotes and preserves family life. … The home is what needs reforming
(Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith [1998], 382, 384).
...
So the bad news is that family breakdown is causing a host of societal and economic ills. But the good news is that, like any cause and effect, those ills can be reversed if what is causing them is changed. Inequities are resolved by living correct principles and values.
...
the most important cause of our lifetime is our families.
If we will devote ourselves to this cause, we will improve every other aspect of our lives
...
image from here
...
1- prioritize. Put everything you do outside the home in subjection to and in support of what happens inside your home.
...
2- do things in the right order! Marriage first and then family.
No career can bring you as much fulfillment as rearing a family.
...
3- husbands and wives, you should be equal partners in your marriage.
...
4- use the family resources of the Church
"...the Church is the scaffolding with which we build eternal families"
(see Teachings: Harold B. Lee, 148).

Wedding Decor

I thought this was a great and summery look - from Second Chances

It starts at the guest table where guests write a note for the couple and put their message in a jar.
..

Raffia and shell garland is used to create a great look in front of the table.

..

These labels are displayed on the cutest of finials or posts or ??? whatever they are.

..

And, the bouquet had shells in it too - lovely addition to a beautiful collection.

..

More lovely comes in the way of a dressed up gazebo - dressed in lacey curtains.

..

-----
After finishing this post about the Beach Wedding, I found that this family had another Shabby Chic Wedding earlier.
There were several great looks there too.

You'll recognize these label holders from the wedding above - they are wooden salt and pepper shakers, candlesticks and wooden balls, and curly paper clips. Cool!

..

The food tables all had white icicle lights attached to them before the table skirting was put on. They were covered with vinyl lace fabric purchased from JoAnn's and cut to size.  And isn't that bunting cute?!?!?!

 ..

Love the picket fence here!  The backdrop was made from sheets - hung on pvc pipe.

  ..
