Gold and Glitter, Flowers and Leaves

We have enjoyed seeing the beautiful colors of the leaves in Seattle this fall, but they are almost gone.

Shimmering glittery gold or silver, bronze and copper look lovely on these leaves (pinned here).
DIY this glittery leaf garland for fall.
A lovely look for fall.

--

I saw this shiny bouquet(and pinned it) and wondered what it really would look like ..., it could be beautiful for fall or winter.
Just spray baby's-breath gold or silver.

Curious - Spray paint baby's breath gold & silver for decorations- engagement party, bridal shower, or weddings.
Lovely!

Sliced Wood Chargers

Would anyone like a slice of wood?
I would!
This woodsy look from Wedding Chicks - would make a wonderful fall / Thanksgiving setting.
The clear plates over the wood slice is a great look.

I love the squash too.

Pumpkin Upholstery

I saw this at Creative Co-op

This looks like the fabric from the first sofa and love seat we purchased many years ago.

Here it is, with one of our sons enjoying it's comfort (about 26 years ago).

This sofa and love seat is still in our play room, but feeling not quite a comfy as it used to be.  I keep threatening to get rid of it - but it's so hard to do. Maybe I'll have to make pumpkins out of it!?!?!?

Way to re-purpose a sofa!
Do you have a sofa that is waiting for a new life?
Or maybe just some upholstery left from some furniture you recovered?

Autumn Colors Wedding

School has started and that means Autumn/Fall is not far behind.

I haven't been too excited for Summer to end.
I do not like the heat of the Summer, but I was loving the Summer colors.

This Vintage Farm Wedding from Rustic Wedding Chic is lessening my anxiety a bit because of the lovely combination of Autumn colors.

In this collection of photos, my favorite is the hanging lanterns on the porch. The color and textures of Autumn begin to appear.   The canning jars are plain and simple, yet quite effective in this setting.

I love the yellow chest in this collection, and the spreader filled with squash.  It shares a homey and simple life style that is relaxing and fulfilling. (I'm kinda confused at why I think that it's a relaxing life style, when gardening is one of the hardest things for me to do right now.  It's not so simple and relaxing, but the look of it is.  And, I suppose if I didn't have anything else to do it wouldn't be so hard to get out there.)

I think the grooms clothing colors are a favorite (check out their site for a full view - it's a great look).
The soft and warm colors in these photos are very relaxing and inviting - from the plant life to the soft cozy pillows and blankets to "cuddle up" in, to the apple juice (or at least that's what I'm wanting it to be, or maybe an orange juice would be nice).  I love the water trough and the wood crates.

The table settings are lovely.

And the area overall is lovely.

I think I can handle fall coming now.

It's coming - like it or not!  So I'm trying to like it.
I still hope it comes slowly.

I saw this today on Pinterest and thought I'd add it here since it is a sweet Autumn / Fall look too.  I love the Falling In Love bunting idea.
great for a wedding shower in the fall

Thanksgiving Stuff

Napkin holders from The Idea Room - notice the burlap place mat and the simple fall colors.

---

Place cards from Whisker Graphics

---

I might like to remember this idea too - from Celebrating Everyday Life - the colors are simple but beautiful.  Silver is the color here, but if you have gold rim plates, gold would be great too.

Pinteresting Pumpkins

I saw something on Pinterest

I liked the look and wanted to do something like it, using only things I already had -
I salvaged some 2x8 wood pieces out of a box we save for fire wood, trying to find just the right sizes. I didn't want to do much cutting. :)
Well ..., I didn't have enough of one color of orange paint, so I used a few colors of browns and oranges and yellow.  This photo doesn't show the true color, but it does show some truth, in that I wish it was a bit brighter, but even then, I like the rustic look.
I sanded it (but it wasn't dry as I would have liked it to be when I did sand it and it added too much of a dusty look to it, but I was in a hurry).
I also rubbed it with some antiquing liquid, wrapped it with some burlap looking ribbon ...,
and glued some berry strands and flowers on it.
Oh yes, I glued a stem (or broken piece of wood I found) on top ...,
with some moss around it to hide where the stem meets the pumpkin.
Other than wishing it was brighter, I like it.
It's a bit rustic looking and it was fun to make.

...

As I was preparing this my husband asked why we didn't stand the boards vertical so that they had ribs like a real pumpkin.  So, I got some spray paint and tried it.

Again, not true to the color, these really are more orange than they look here, but the spray paint didn't seem to be a great idea to cover them completely, since the wood just soaks it right up, being old weathered pieces, not fresh cut 2x4s.   However, it did give a rustic look that I was looking for, especially after I rubbed it with antiquing liquid.
To add to the rustic look I pounded in a few used and bent nails that came out of all of these pumpkin wood pieces.  They just seemed to look like a fun stem when I picked them up and bunched them together, so they became useful again and added a fun touch.

I wrapped a ribbon around it and wallah!  It's a pumpkin ?  ... a petrified pumpkin !?!
(I think I'm going to cut that ribbon shorter though.)

...
Other fun pumpkins found on Pinterest :
(I've added the source site for some, and extra looks to save from those individual sites.)
You Craft Me Up
There are a lot of fun ideas from that blog (You Craft Me Up), like this next BOO!
(There is a cute pumpkin in that too.)
...

Now some not found on Pinterest :
(maybe they are there, but I didn't find them there.)

This is a great look - from Perfectly Imperfect

Great ideas out there!  So many creative people!  Thanks for creating and sharing your ideas with so many others.

I didn't see a recipe for this, but it's a great fall look, using an apple as an ice cream cup and pooring caramel syrup over the top.  I'll bet some chopped nuts would be great sprinkled on it too.

Perfect Pumpkins and Other Halloween Decor

Blogs have been showing Halloween decor or Fall decor for several weeks now - here are a few of my favorites -

Doilies on a pumpkin can look amazing, like this one from Ticking and Toile

---

This next look is from Tatortots and Jello

The plain white pumpkins look great!  I love the color combination - gray, white, orange, black.  Great idea to use chains.  Cool numbers. Love the window/door.
The trees kinda throw my simple mind off a bit for Halloween, though I do think they help make this look what it is, and it reminds me of the fact that we are all different - and oh how nice that is.  Sometimes it's our differences that work well together.  Just look at all the different textures in this set up  ... they work so well together.
