Sitting Pretty

Bales don't always work for seating, but maybe these options would fit the occasion. There are some nice looks. It just depends on the conditions, the surroundings, what is available, and the desire of course.

Pillows on Pews Outside found at Modern Romance
I would love to have seen this look - I do like it.

Or pillows on a bench.

Ribbons (or fabric strips) on a chair add beautiful color to the bride and groom (or other special) chairs. Ah Ribbon! It can be so beautiful in so many places ... I guess that is for another post.

This photo is from Wedding Bee. Check out Emmaline Bride for more photos.

Even this type of chair looks great with ribbons. Found on Hostess with the Mostess.
Check out their Alice in Wonderland inspired Birthday Party.

I really like this swing with beautiful long ribbon bows (of course the little girl makes it cute too) found at Elizabeth Anne Designs.

And this swing or chair is a great idea. Chairs are "upcycled" into many things at Poetic Home, where this photo came from.

Don't like your chairs? How 'bout a cover?

I love the assorted chairs look! These two photos are found on Jessica Claire.
This whole look is lovely - it's another place I would like to have seen.

This photo is from Green Wedding Shoes.

We often use the church chairs - nothing special, but they work and are no charge.

Like Color? Collect folding chairs and spray paint them whatever color you choose. Saw these on Pinterest. There are other styles there too.

These next colorful chairs are found on Design Sponge

Are these buckets? How about stools?

Who needs chairs?
Try blankets on the lawn.

Beautiful, from The Abbey Blog

Doesn't it just look so romantic?  It's like a Hallmark movie.
They added cozy and beauty to this loveliness.
So many places I wish I could have been to see the beauty of it all.

Bales for Seating and More

What do you use when you don't have enough chairs? Do you have access to bales?
 Done right, it looks great!

Photos with the yellow streamers come from HERE

I love the pillow idea, but I also think there needs to be a cloth down in front so clothes and legs don't get scratched by the bales.

Here is some cloth down in front, and lovely arrangements at the sides.

Cute bale sofa or luv seat - photo from HERE

This looks like it is to be used as a sofa table. The tray on top of the bale would keep the glasses upright. That comes from Green Wedding Shoes

Assorted quilts covering the bales - from West Aussie Wedding HERE!

Bales can even be used as a table or tier display. There are small bales sold in stores for table top decor.

There are more pics HERE
And of course, check out Pinterest for bale seating.

Announcing Baby!

Doesn't this inspire? It's photos like this one that make me Look and Save.

I saw this on Pinterest and tried to find the DIY about it, but there was nothing. I don't really need it though, it's easy enough to DIY without someone telling me.

I see it two ways;
1) birth announcements, with all the right info and message.
2) wall art, adorable for the nursery, maybe behind a beautiful frame.

Well, I guess there is a third way - photo album/baby book.

LOVE THE LOOK  whatever way it's used!

An Occasion to Party in Pink!

Family and Friends gathered for a special day to celebrate the birth of our granddaughter. Babies are a special reason to celebrate. I wanted to use only what I already have for the table decor, not purchasing anything new.
I started pulling things from every room in the house to set up the centerpieces, trying to keep in a pink color scheme as much as possible. I don't have a lot of pink, but it did remain feminine.
I used flowers from past weddings and anniversary celebrations, odds and ends like my daughters pink piggy bank that was stuffed in storage, cloth napkins and pieces of fabric, and...well, the photos show what I used. So many times I purchase something thinking I'll use it sometime, and that is exactly what happened with the baby bottles and the tiny pearl candies. I've had those baby bottles for years and the candy was purchased in case I might want to use it somewhere in the last wedding our family had (we didn't, so it worked perfect for this occasion).

Crackle Finish

Crackle Finish With Elmers Glue Link
There is tutorial and more photos at the link above.

Elmers Link
How do I use Elmer's to create the painted crackle effect or antique look on furniture or crafts?

Just follow this recipe:
1.Paint the object or furniture with an acrylic craft paint. Let dry.
2.Cover the paint with a coat of Elmer's Glue-All glue.
3.While still wet, paint on another coat of a different color of acrylic paint. The painted item will begin to crackle as it dries.
4.When dry, cover with another coat of the Elmer's Glue-All as a sealer.

Choices and Life

I love this quote!

"There is a choice you have to make, in everything you do.
And you must always keep in mind, the choice you make, makes you."

It should look like the future you are dreaming."

Clever Crayons

A cute idea from The Celebration Shoppe

Create Scrapbooks Using Other Peoples Photos?

A few days ago I heard a commercial that said something like "nobody creates scrapbooks with hundreds of other people's photos". At least that is what I thought I heard. I wasn't watching the commercial but was just nearby and thought about what I heard after it was over. I don't even know what it was advertising.

I thought it was funny because that is exactly what I have been doing for months now. Maybe not scrapbooking other people's pictures, but they are gathering in rather numerous numbers in my computers photo gallery. I love to look at them...they inspire creativity.

I have been wanting to put those photos online somewhere, but it often costs to store so many, or I don't like the site layout, or I'm not sure where to go or what is available, so I decided to put them here, ready to view in time of need (or desire). I'll be adding to them as I find a new Look I Like.

Veggies!

Summer is beginning to feel like it might just leave us and let Autumn take over. I'm sure it will still be awhile, but it is in sight.
I hope to get more out of my garden ... you know ... get my fill before they are gone. Especially love these Lemon Cucumbers! They are my favorite.

They are not usually bitter unless you let them get too old, then beware!

One good thing Autumn will bring from the garden is the winter squash. Mmmmmm! I do look forward to that.

I might have to pull a lazy chair out into the garden just to watch these things grow for awhile.

Not that easy. If I'm going to spend time in the garden it will be pulling weeds ... with no lazy chair in sight.

Ahhh! Colors Continue

In keeping with yesterdays color theme...I saw those marshmallows scattered on the table next to the cookies and it reminded me of a family favorite. Have you tried it? Wanna? Just pop your popcorn like normal, add the butter and salt, then throw in some colored mini marshmallows. Mmmmmm!

Ahhhh! Colors

The colors in my previous post, of the mints, really appeal to me and I am often drawn to them. I wish I used them in my kitchen and family room, but no! However, I did just realize that in the fall of 2003 I did use them in the first (and last) little girls room I ever did create. I was so pleased with the finished project. The problem is that with all my blood, sweat, and tears into that room I can't bring myself to change it. My teenage daughter wants a different look, but I haven't been able to re-do. We have changed some decor for her, but not the walls. Hey, I rag rolled all four walls! Yes, ALL BY MYSELF!

They really are such peaceful colors. Maybe I could snuggle up with my blanket and watch a good movie. Hey, my blanket...check out the colors...just a little bit different version of similar colors, but still soft and sweet. And check out my soft, yellow, forty year old teddy bear. He still brings a smile as he sits in a chair in my family room. Good Times!
