Love for a Lifetime

image from here

"Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle."

Love It!  Fix It!

This next quote seemed funny at first, but it's often the case. I suppose that is why looking at each other for a lifetime is a miracle.

I love miracles!
I love my choice!

Here is another quote I really like (writing it from memory here, so I don't know where I found it or who said it):

Choose your love
Love your choice!

Marriage:
Watch and Learn

- the best marriage partners regard their marriages as priceless.
- faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation of happy eternal marriages.
- repentance and humility build happy marriages.
- terrific marriages are completely respectful, transparent, and loyal.
- successful couples love each other with complete devotion.
Marriage is a gift from God to us; the quality of our marriages is a gift from us to Him.

The ultimate end of all activity in the Church is that a man and his wife and their children can be happy at home and that the family can continue through eternity. All Christian doctrine is formulated to protect the individual, the home, and the family.

Protect It!

"If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don't expose it to the elements.  You don't make it common or ordinary.  If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new.  It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by."

Marriage

You might notice that I have been posting a bit about marriage.  I don't know if it's really coincidence or if it is more than that, but there is a bit of a buzz about it lately just because of the laws and government of late.
I have an acquaintance that sends me occasional emails with quotes and short stories. Here is one that she recently sent.

It was a busy morning when an elderly gentleman arrived to have stitches removed from this thumb.

He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment in thirty minutes. I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would be able to see him.

I saw him looking at this watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient. I would evaluate his wound.

It was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors and gathered the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound. While taking care of this thumb, I asked him why he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife. I then inquired as to her health.

He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimers disease. As we talked I asked if she would be worried if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was and had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised and asked him, And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is.

I had to hold back tears as he left, and I thought That's the kind of love I want in my life.

True love is neither physical nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

Sometimes one wonders "what's in it for me?"  What we put into it is what is in it for us!  Our attitude and perception of it. It is up to us!  I can't say this is a true story, but the moral behind it certainly is.

This friend that sends the emails often, if not always, ends with

Have a great day . . . Unless you've made other plans.

A Great Article on Marriage

This is only a paragraph of the article:

"As we face this and other issues of our time, we encourage all to bear in mind our Heavenly Father’s purposes in creating the earth and providing for our mortal birth and experience here as His children. “God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth” (Genesis 1:27–28). “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24). Marriage between a man and a woman was instituted by God and is central to His plan for His children and for the well-being of society. Strong families, guided by a loving mother and father, serve as the fundamental institution for nurturing children, instilling faith, and transmitting to future generations the moral strengths and values that are important to civilization and crucial to eternal salvation."

"Changes in the civil law do not, indeed cannot, change the moral law that God has established. God expects us to uphold and keep His commandments regardless of divergent opinions or trends in society. His law of chastity is clear: sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife."
