Use Up Your Fabric Remnants

Fabric Remnants can hang around for a long time if you can't think of what to do with them. Sometimes it seems that throwing them away would be a good choice.  Here are a few ideas I came across and thought I'd save for a rainy day - just in case I need help remembering what to do with all of my scraps.
Drawer pulls - made with fabric scraps.   I think they are pretty cute!  From Anna Maria

--

A hand bag is another idea - patch together some pieces and then create a bag like this from Crafterholic.

--

Tipnut has a post with 50 ideas for using fabric scraps.

--

Another post from Tipnut shares 40 fabric flowers to make.

--

One idea from The Art of Homemaking shares a fabric wreath.

--

I have seen and created my own paper covered clothes pins, but here are some fabric covered pins - sure wouldn't take a very large piece of fabric.  Maybe we should keep some clothes pins on hand to make up some of these with the tiny scraps after our sewing projects are done.  Collect them in a pretty glass bowl or vase or bottle and give an assortment for gifts when the need arises.
These are from etsy

--

Decorate your gift cards like these from Art and Blog.
These could be hearts, stars, flowers, or bear shapes, or any outline shape including a simple circle. How about a men's tie for Father's Day?

--

Personalize a picture frame with scraps of fabric like this from Moda Bake Shop

--

Or, leave the frame as it is and decorate the inside of the back board like this from Little Big Town Designs

Just Crafting

This cute wrapped wire letter is from a magazine I saved in my files some time ago.  I couldn't find any info to tell me what magazine it was or any sort of date.
 -----

Ribbon wrapped bracelets look fun, and any shape, including the letter above would look great with colorfully designed ribbon.
This is another page from my paper files, saved from a Family Fun magazine from April 2007.

Confetti shapes.  This one is a heart shape, but it could be any shape, including any letter of the alphabet.  Learn how at Dollar Store Crafts

Fun Bracelets

We have been likin' the homemade bracelets this year.
GirlyQ made some at girls camp - and then she taught them at our family reunion.

These are finger knit bracelets.

---

These bracelets from Beachcomber are cool.  Maybe we'll have to try these with all that ribbon I have stashed away for using ... someday.

Button Neckaces &/or Garland &/or Key Fobs

Cute necklace from Dishfunctional Designs

There is so much color here - it would make a great garland
These crocheted buttons would also make great garland
happy necklaces
I see these necklaces from Etsy as a cute key chain

Buttons can be a lovely thing -

Boho - The Look!

There are some great photos and hints at Dishfunctional Designs for how to create that Bohemian look.
Most include great and bright colors, but one is quite white and lovely.
Many include beads and beads always add a shiny glow to things.  I especially like the beads used as curtain tie backs.

Denim Bracelet

This bracelet from Crafts by Amanda is clever -
I like the denim with the beads on top, but the other is a bit too much for me.

Lovely Book Decor

I do like this Look found at Laura Frantz.
The colors are so soft and the vintage look is surely one I love.

When I saw it I immediately thought of a look I posted earlier HERE.

Deep Cleaning Continues

I started my deep cleaning the first week of January and really didn't get very far into it until I had completely stopped and moved on to something else.

My mother-in-law passed away and we began to clean out their home (the homestead), since my father-in-law had passed away about 6 months earlier.
That was a big project and continues to be ... still not done.

That also means that we inherited a few items that we needed to find a place for in our home. So ... things began to shift.

My stuff room is still the first room to tackle in my home, but it really has been taking a long time, because I keep stuffing it with boxes and things from the homestead. There came a point where I was working more in my stuff room than at the homestead so I did get a few things done here. I'll share a bit.

One of my favorite things ... new to my stuff room ... is the little butter cream cupboard that belonged to grandma (MIL's mother) and became ours. Once a pantry, it now houses cards and papers and beads and wire and some history.

The color isn't true in this photo, but it seems that this pinterest post shows the more true color of the unit.  Great color name!

Benjamin Moore Old World Romance

On top sits ribbon and jewelry to the side. (I do need to go through and organize the boxes of ribbon still - another day.)

On the wall next to it are some cute wall hooks with other jewelry on it.

Before Photos really are embarrassing, and the After Photos in this post are only some better.

It's still a stuffed room ... but that is what it's for so I'm okay with that. I'm so happy to have it!

There are still plenty of boxes and piles of things to go through and organize - like those things seen in the lower right side of the last photo, so the other parts of the room are not yet shown. Maybe I'll spare you those for a very long time ... maybe until I get all of my scrap booking up to date ... and that could be a very long time if I'm still intent on deep cleaning my whole house ... and I am.

It's spring time and the yard is calling me ... and the garage ... so, I'll do a little more in the stuff room and then choose another place to attack ... while at the same time trying to finish the homestead place too.

Lastly ... it's been fun to see the precious things that belonged to our loving parents, and it has consumed much of our time, and there are many projects on the To Do List to help us keep some of those precious things (photos, histories, etc.) close at hand and close to our hearts.

Soooo Much To Do!
I'm gonna get up and goin' again!
Just stopped for a quick post ... okay, not so quick post ... but it was fun!

Marble Jewelry

These look cool! I found them on pinterest and looked into it. Here's what I found from craftster.org

"These are marbles that I fried, well actually baked causing them to crack on the inside but still remain intact on the outside, so I glued end caps to them with starter rings and created some beautiful pendants. I was going to drill through them and make beads, but as we make mistakes we learn. I learned that I should probably drill the marbles before I crack them, otherwise they fall apart when trying to drill through cracked glass."

"It's really quite easy the best method I found for getting the most cracks is to bake the marbles on a cookie sheet at about 325 - 350 for 20 minutes, as soon as you take them out of the oven put them in a metal bowl or sink of cold water and ice. I used plain marbles usually found in the floral department of crafting stores. Any colored marble will work as long as it is translucent, the marbles that are fully colored like toy marbles are kind of useless because the cracks won't show up. This also works with glass stones."
