Nothing Added

This is a great outdoor area from 100 Layer Cake
It's a beautiful natural look! Nothing Added except for the chairs and microphone stand.  How easy is that!  (Except for the upkeep year round, but I'm guessing that gets done anyway.)

Here is the same area with a different look, from Verandas Beach House. It looks like this was before the greenery grew and color was added.

Just thinking about weddings and receptions today, especially since My husband and I are celebrating 34 years ...,  He's still the one! ..., and ALWAYS will be!
And, I keep trying to be the one for him ..., still!

brick wall +

I couldn't seem to pin this, but I like this wall and look I found at Karla's Closet

lo3

I like the brick, the sidewalk, the bench, the doors, the railing, the windows and doors in the upper level behind the railing.

It's all lovely!

barn quilts

While traveling through Tillamook Oregon for our family reunion this summer we passed several barns with (wood/painted) quilts on the front or side.   Each was different and each seemed unrelated to the other.  It was interesting to see and I wondered what inspired so many to create and display these barn quilts.

After we got home, my husband was going thru the mail and found a newspaper - The Bridge TV Week - with an article about Barn Quilts in the Kittitas County (WA state).  Because we had just seen and talked about this type of thing it peeked our interest and we read about it.

That article said; "A barn quilt is a painted replica of an everyday quilt on an 8-foot by 8-foot square of ultra fine-faced plywood..., some are 4x4."  (I didn't notice that all the barn quilts we saw in Oregon were the same size, but they probably were.)  "It is usually mounted on the most visible gable end of the barn."

I really love this barn!  The entrance is great!
The quilt is okay too, but the barn is the reason I am saving this look.
Everything else is just extra info. ;)

Continued info about barn quilts from the article:
"The designs are taken from traditional patterns used by quilters.  Favorite old family patterns are used, as are modern variations of traditional patterns."
"Barn quilts are a good way to bring attention to our way of life ..., they cause people to get off the main highways and tour the agricultural areas.  Some of the quilt patterns tell the history of the family.  Others tell what a farm produces."

Crafty Things

I think all of these are from a country sampler magazine years ago.
I liked the look and saved them in my paper files - I'm now minimizing my paper stash and saving things here.

Some have the purchase info with them, but I do not know if any of them are still in business.

Such a great looking barn

hanging hearts and crafts

Love the rag sheep (not really a fan of cats and dogs).

Father and Son on tractors - so sweet.
(I can't believe I scanned that crocked - eek!)

Here is something I'm not sure where I got it, but I'm saving it non-the-less.

Wood vs White-Wash

Stuff I'm lovin'

Wood  (like I mentioned yesterday)
and paint
maybe even together!

I do love wood, and have wainscotting in my family room, but sometimes it seems too dark and I wish I'd paint it.  Hubby likes it too much to paint it, so I don't.
I love wood - it's such a natural and earthy look, but it often feels like the room is falling in on you or like you're in a dark space and can't lighten it up with enough day light or lamp light. So, the next best thing would be to white-washed wood. It's a bit more bright and cheery. It livens up a room.  It's still earthy and natural.  I love it.
We have seen several pallet walls or partial walls, that I like, but when it comes right down to it, it's just so dark that I don't do it.  Here is a photo from a previous post of a pallet wall.

White-washing (or graying it) would be awesome.  This lighter look from House to Home Blog is a lovely room.
---

I just posted yesterday of a pallet walk way ..., and I love it, and would leave it natural (unpainted), but inside a home or lodge might be a different story for me.
---
I love the look of the pallets when they are white-washed.  Here is another photo, from Owen's Olivia, that shows the upper half done and the lower half not yet done, so you can kinda see a difference.

---

Just look at the paneling in this room, from Just a Touch of Gray, that was re-done with a white-wash

It went from this look (and feel) ...

to this look (and feel) ...

Can you breathe better?
The walls made enough difference that I could have left the fireplace brick unpainted and felt great.
It's quite lovely ...

Country Living showed a cabin that was done with light colored walls, - "Forgoing a dark stain, Houston pickled the planks himself, conjuring a color that evokes the innards of a tender sapling."

Another great look, where the ceiling is white-washed ..., oh, and the floors.  From Natural Decor.

or the whole room ...

These are justs the posts / beams, but are nicely white-washed, from Gypsy Purple.

... and these are logs of a cabin wall, white-washed or painted ..., definitely lightened up the place ...

This one, from Gypsy Purple,  is more painted than white-washed, but you can see that it's wood, and looks very nice.

More Barns, Bunk Houses, and Lodges I'm Loving

Stuff I'm lovin'

If you have followed my blog for long, you'll know that I do love barns!
There is so much character in a barn.  Some have great stories they could tell if only they could talk.
Many, if not most, are standing daily to help create more lovely stories.

Maybe not a barn, but this is a great look.

Outdoor Buildings

This is a fun little "house" for the yard.  It's a great little play house or hut or fort or ..., whatever the imagination could come up with.  Wouldn't it be awesome with sand in it - for a covered sand box?
This look comes from Green Wedding Shoes

side house

---

I think this came from House Beautiful magazine ??? - a cute outdoor get-away. This little building nestled under the trees makes for a great play area, storage shed, or guest room. It's cute for whatever it's used fo, even just for looks.   I love outdoor rooms.

stair way

I love to look up into a room from the main level or down into a room from the upper level.
It's so much better than a wall around it with a door, except when there is so much noise that you wish you could close it up. Usually we see the upper floor stretched across the room so that only half of the space is used - this plan allows for more floor space.

Cute playhouse.

Barn Again

Another lovely barn.

I love the mowed meadow in the foreground and the stately everygreens framing the background.
The barn itself is great.  I love the stairs peeking around the back.

Barns & The Like

A barn house from Simply Seleta
- the garage has a great barn look, and love the sunroom on the other end.

How about just a roof?  I could see this with canvas or linen curtains at each post.

White and Turquoise Living / Decor by Color

This look intrigues me.  I love the simple lines, the outdoor dining area under a shady tree surrounded by three walls - cool white walls with the beautiful turquoise color doors - it looks like a great escape.
This look comes from 79ideas

--
I've been checking out 79ideas for several weeks now.  I looked at it, created the above portion of this post, and then went to the next blogs I read and somewhere (I don't even remember where) I found House of Turquoise on a bloglist.  I thought it a bit ironic though that I would find it on the same day.  It seems to fit though.
House of Turquoise blogs about things turquoise - easy as that - so I saw more lovely turquoise decor.
She even has a shop - Everything Turquoise
Lovin' that color!
Speaking of color, she also has other blogs - Decor by Color
where she searches the web for items of color - "the products you want in the colors you love"

--

Um! I thought my post on Turquoise was done ... but then ....
Okay, the same day still, after saving my turquoise post, I found another site with turquoise color - - - somethings going on here.  I'm just going thru my Reader and coming up with all this on one day.  Kinda freakin' me out a bit - what am I missing?  I didn't get any memo to blog about turquoise ... oh no! ... but I am now bloggin about turquoise ... wow! ... my head is spinning!
Pink Wallpaper got the memo about the Turquoise posts and put up some great looks ...

--
Okay, now I plan on ending this post right here ..., but ...,  if I get reading more and find more turquoise I am really going to be wondering what is going on.   Don't worry ... I'll return and this post will continue if I find more, but if not, assume that I'm back to normal and the turquoise thing is over.  Lovely while it lasted, but over!

--

Guess What?  Are these doors from Roadkill Rescue turquoise?

--

I still haven't found a memo!
I've only got a couple more blogs, so I could be ending here ?!?!?!?!

Another Beautiful Barn...

And this one is fun, though I'm not sure I'd call it a barn.  From HERE

I think I'd like a barn with a side "porch" or lean to.  From HERE

This is pretty simple. From HERE

I love the old barns - what a look!  From Artifacts

I love a white barn.  There is one along the road from Ellensburg to Yakima that I always love to look at when we travel that way.  This isn't it, but it is an old white barn.  I don't really care for the smile face though.  From HERE

This open side barn is small yet great.  I like it a lot!  From HERE
