True Friendship

image is from an ME calendar I purchased

Just a thought - Consider this quote and the overwhelming desire (even need) some have for an unlimited number of "friends" on facebook or followers on blogs, etc.

"True friendship consists not in the multitude of friends, but in their worth and value."
- Ben Jonson

Christmas Favor/Gift Ideas

I don't remember where I learned about this little poem, but this is a card I created and attached to a container of m&ms many years ago to give to my family.  This card has been stored in my paper files ever since then.  I still think the message is cute!   (Someone must have shared it with me first.)

Cookie dough:
Here’s a little extra “dough” for Christmas
or
"Everyone needs a little extra "Dough" for Christmas!!"

---
Measuring cups/spoons:
Wishing you joy beyond measure!
---

Nuts:
We're nuts about you!
---

Soup or soup mix:
Wishing you a "souper" holiday.

Here are several fun ideas from love the day :

and muffin

and twiz

and sprinkling

Bulbs of Beauty

Isn't this bulb collection beautiful. Bulbs of Pomegranate from Komali Nunna

And pretty jars of pomegranate jelly sit beside the tree tier of fruit and berries.

-----

That really wasn't the type of bulb I was meaning to post about, however, it is lovely and I couldn't leave it out.

I was really creating this post for Christmas bulbs - for these next couple pages I found in my paper files.

These are fun to remember and to help me create a look of my own.

A cluster of vintage bulbs.

Lovely hung shapely shiney brights.
(Is there a noun in there?)

this page comes from a Real Simple December 2007 magazine

Putting bulbs in a vase?  Maybe this idea can help!

Christmas Smiles

A poem I found in my files - don't know the author, but it's worth keeping.

A smile is such a funny thing
It wrinkles up your face
And when it's gone you never find
It's secret hiding place.

But far more wonderful it is,
To see what smiles can do.
You smile at one, he smiles at you,
And so one smile makes two.

And since a smile can do so much
By cheering hearts of care,
Let's smile a lot this Christmas time -
Such smiles go everywhere.

Garden Beds

I do have garden beds, but I don't have the little seat area on the ends like this.  It's a great idea.

From Family Fun June 2006 magazine

I think the top seat area would help hold it together better and be awesome for a great place to sit while weeding the garden.

One thing I have learned (the hard way) is that garden beds shouldn't be very wide.  It's too hard to weed in the middle of the box if they are too wide.

Here is a picture of our garden boxes, found in our scrapbooks - taken about 12 years ago.

Harvesting from them can be kinda fun!

The look has changed since 2001.
I'll have to try for a photo next year, because I'm out of time this year.

Yard Tools Side Shed

I think this is a great storage shed / space
from a Sunset magazine, but I don't know what issue.

I have a plan to put something like this on the side of my pump house out by my garden.  I don't know when it will get done - it won't be this year - but I would love one there someday.

Bed and Breakfast

This hide-away bed behind cupboard doors in the dining room could really be found in any room in the house.

I wonder if there is a bed in the upper cupboards too?
A new style of bunk beds!

Great Looks for the Great Outdoors

More looks from my paper file system ...
These looks are for the yard ... the great outdoors!

Here is a great path in the yard,
From Better Homes and Garden March 2010 magazine

Brick patio and lovely yard - there are many lovely things to look at here.
from Better Homes and Garden June 2010 magazine

Another great yard area - this one has a cute little house beside it's dining area, and the cute house has some cool flower boxes, and ..., just keep looking at this area, onto the second page too, to see all the great looks this has to offer.
from Better Homes and Garden September 2009 magazine

Now for an apple tree fence line - awesome!
They "planted the trees on a trellis system [they] designed..., joined them like they were holding hands..., and pruned and trained them using a method called espalier, to grow horizontally as a fence shape, called a cordon."
from Better Homes and Gardens September 2009 magazine

I can see why I saved these looks - awesome huh!

Lunch Boxes

Fun Stuff - Just something I had in my paper files -

Wouldn't it be fun to serve a picnic or party lunch to guests in these old style lunch boxes?  Just think of the great assortment that could be collected.   So Fun!

and now days we can even buy this lunch box - too easy huh!

Boxed lunches are a fun thing right now.  I have collected a few boxed lunch looks in my Picnics and Outdoor Dining Pinterest Board

(Someday maybe I'll change the board to Boxed Lunches, but for now, it remains with my Picnics and Outdoor Dining - even though boxed lunches can be used inside too.)

Summer Fun Stuff

Happy Summer!

Oh what do you do in the summer time?

Paint cute stone creatures like these from a Woman's Day 7/18/89 magazine ...

or from the same magazine, comes this idea of a rock mosaic ...

or this idea of a leaf fan ...

---

I don't know where this comes from, but can see that it is from the year 1999. I have seen others like it online, but wanted to save the look here, especially since I had in on paper.

---

Another twig project is this basket.  This project was saved from a Woman's Day 7/18/89 magazine.

---

Use twigs to help create a Charm Bag like these seen in a July/August 2006 Family Fun magazine.
It looks like a fun craft for young girls.

---

More nature crafts include these adorable creatures from a Family Fun June/July 2012 magazine.

---

Pool Noodles can be used for some fun out of the pool as seen in these next two images

this is from a Family Fun magazine July/August 2006

and this is from a Family Fun magazine July/August 2007

Have some Fun!
